ITCS helps provide leadership for information technology
in the College of ACES. We provide the following Information
Technology Services:
- Desktop Support
- Server Management
- Network Support
- Network Security
- IT Systems Management & Accounts
- Systems for IT Management
- IT Planning & Review
Support, training, and installation are provided for College of ACES
Administrative offices. We work closely with the College of ACES Net
Admins who offer support to college departments and units and the Extension
regional
technologists
who offer front-line support to Extension field staff.
Desktop Support
Includes:
- Hardware specification
- Hardware setup
- Software installation and upgrades
- Software trouble-shooting
- System trouble-shooting
Server Management
Includes:
- Server setup
- Server maintenance
- Operating system updates
- Server trouble-shooting and support
- Network connectivity and trouble-shooting
- Network security
- Virus protection and updates
Add-on Options for Server Management:
- Server Backups
- Server Monitoring
Network Support
Includes:
- IP address management and assignment
- DHCP server for the appropriate subnet
- B-jack connections
- Building network troubleshooting
- Building network upgrades
Network Security
Includes:
- Security check-up for existing computers
- Security check-up for new and re-done computers
- Liaison to CITES for security violation incidents
- Resolution of security violation incidents
- Regular security scans of the network
IT Systems Management & Accounts
Includes:
- VPN accounts
- Accounts on the new mail server that includes server based virus
scanning.
- Individualized domain on the new mail server for any ACES unit (e.g.
extension.uiuc.edu, ansc.uiuc.edu)
- Accounts in the ACES-IT and EXTENSION domains.
- Accounts in ACES Active Directory Tree
- Accounts in ACES NDS Tree
Systems for IT Management
Includes:
- Web based request tracking system for the ACES unit
- Web based hardware/software system for the ACES unit
- Web based system for IP address management for the ACES unit
- Web based office requests system for review of outstanding requests
Information Technology Planning, Review & Research
Includes:
- Assistance with technology searches
- Information Technology review within an ACES department or unit
- Coordination of activities and major initiatives related to IT planning
in ACES Facilitation of activities within the ACES Net Admin group
- Investigate new technology uses and initiatives within the college’s
three mission areas of academics, research, and outreach.
